Although no one had time to clean their homes, there was such a high level of dissatisfaction among the national maid service franchises that many were resorting to hiring people out of the newspaper to clean their homes. Customers were unhappy and some franchises had an employee turnover of as much as 2000%! In fact, one well-known national franchise was hiring employees on the spot and paying them in cash at the end of the day.
The region lacked an organization applying strict quality standards, selective hiring techniques and intensive training. Cleaning Concepts revolutionized the industry by being the first to offer health, dental and life insurance to our employees. While others were hiring part time employees, students or just warm bodies to fill a uniform, our Company sought out those looking for more than just a little extra spending money. And we rewarded our staff with Company cars, vacations, sick days, retirement plans and a living wage. This commitment took Cleaning Concepts from a shoestring startup with two employees to a local success story.
